How Volkswagen key programming works
Older VW immobilizers are programmed through the diagnostic port with the car's security code. Immo 4 and 5 cars need specialist tools our automotive technicians carry. MQB cars can usually have a key added on site when a working key exists; when every key is lost, Volkswagen's online authorization is required and we tell you before booking rather than after a failed visit.
Things to know before you call about a Volkswagen
- If you have one working VW key on a 2015 or newer car, make a spare now: with a working key we can add one on site, without one it becomes a dealer-online job.
